Featured Funeral: "Fun"real-Man Plans A Life Celebration for Kids to Enjoy
Before Lou Gehrig’s disease confined Jerry Manford to a wheelchair, he was an active, fun-loving, adventurer. Manford kept his sense of humor while fighting the disease and planned a carnival for his funeral. Pony-rides, inflatable jumping toys and carnival decorations filled the backyard of the Bonner Springs Church of the Nazarene the day of Manford’s funeral service. He had also created a “lifetime legacy video” in which he told mourners, “See you on the other side. Don’t let it bother you. You’re born, you die. Have a beer and a good laugh.” Manford’s wife decorated his coffin just the way he wanted it, adorned with the words “Return to Sender: Express Delivery.”
